Who We Are

Purpose Statement: To put a new song of love, joy, peace into everyone’s heart through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our values: Loving God and Loving our Neighbors

Mark 12:29-31
Jesus answered, "The most important is,'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God,the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this:'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no othercommandmentgreater than these." (ESV)

About New Song: His-story in the making! We are a new, non-denominational, multiethnic church that seeks to bring gospel to Long Island, NYC, and to the world. We are committed to the systematic exposition of the Bible that will bring personal conversion and build authentic community as followers of Jesus Christ here and abroad. In order for that to happen, we have following visions.

1. Passionate worship every Sunday: Who says the worship has to be boring or the redeemed have to suppress our feelings toward our Redeemer on Sundays or wait until next retreat? No. we celebrate Jesus Christ each Sunday with passionate worship; singing songs that come out from renewed hearts and praying together with one voice. We worship like the redeemed.

2. Every Day: Church is not for Sundays only because we ARE the church. Therefore, we believe  Christians should be committed to Christ every day, hour, minute of our lives.

3. Teaching straight from the Bible: The Bible is not a self help book, or a list of instructions or demands but rather it is story of God and how He chased us with love from eternity. Therefore, we are committed to verse by verse exposition of the Bible so that we may apply His whole truths in our daily lives.

4. Small Groups: Christian life is meant to be lived out in a community. That is why we get together (weekly or bi-weekly; depending on the group) for the word of God, fellowship and encouragement. To this meeting, we invite our unchurched friends so that they may become worshippers of God in Christ as well.

5. The Unchurched: Since we don’t believe in coincidence or chance, everyone who comes to our church is an honored guest. No matter who you are or where you are in your spiritual journey, you are welcomed in our church. Jesus came to seek the lost, and this is what we are all about. Building a church without walls.

6. Gospel partnership: No church can do everything. So we want to reach every tribe, language, people and nation by partnering with our friends, and either going ourselves on missions, or supporting those who go with spiritual and financial resources.

7. Church planting: We believe that the most effective way to reach out to the unchurched is through planting new churches in communities. So we are committed to mentoring, developing, supporting church plants and planters.

8. Multiethnic: we desire to be an ethnically diverse church united in common faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

9. Long Island and New York City: we want to be very presence of Christ in our neighborhoods and in the city. We are here to serve and minister to the city with love of God.

10. Generational worship: Each generation must experience God itself and have its own testimony, rather than worshiping God of their parents without their own confession of faith.  As parents are the primary agents in exemplifying Christ in their children’s homes, New Song does not have a Sunday School, but rather a Children’s Church, where teachers and parents are involved in children’s lives throughout the week.

About Pastor Sam Chung: After the conversion in the freshman year of college, he had ministered in Texas (Austin, Killeen, Houston) and NYC. He is a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and ordained minister of KAPC (Korean American Presbyterian Church). He is happily married to Susan and has two kids, Christian and Sophia.
